The Alchemist

Alchemist

“Because, wherever your heart is, that is where you’ll find your treasure.”

there was a dream for which he searched the whole world and couldn’t find and finally he found how close the treasure in the dream was….right inside his heart. Alchemist, has something divine about it..somehow having a spiritual touch. It can tear your heart and enter.Alchemist gives you dreams, not anything new though…helps you find your dreams.

May be as he wrote in another book, daily life is a miracle. every day there is a special moment happening in your life which we seldom see or rather we never see.but when you learn how to see the miracles of daily life…and yes he says…life has lots of risks and the miracles happen when you are read to take that risk and let something different happen in your life

My heart belogs to my dreams and my dreams belog to my heart…they are in love with each other ..and sometimes they fight with each other let me forget with the theory that there will be small fights in love..at times let it happen.

Quotes from the book :: The Alchemist

* “When you want something, all the world conspires in helping you to
achieve it.”

* “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear
of failure.” (The Old King)

* “At a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to
us, and our lives become controlled by fates. That’s the world’s greatest
lie. Whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want
something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
(Melchizedek, the Old King)

* “As he mused about these things, he realised that he had to choose between
thinking of himself as the poor victim of a thief and as an adventurer in
quest of his treasure”

* “There is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it
is that you do, when you really want something, it’s because that desire
originated in the soul of the universe… The soul of the world is nourished
by people’s happiness.” (The Old King)

* “The desert takes our dreams away from us, and they don’t always return. We
know that, and we are used to it. Those who don’t return become a part of the
clouds, a part of the animals that hide in the ravines and of the water that
comes from the earth. They become part of everything… They become the soul
of the world.” (Fatima)

* “Life attracts life”

* “Don’t think about what you’ve left behind” (The Alchemist)

* “If what one finds is made of pure matter, it will never spoil. If what you
had found was only a moment of light, like the explosion of a star, you would
find nothing on your return.”

* “It’s not often that money saves a person’s life.” (The Alchemist)

* “It is said that the darkest hour of the night comes just before the
dawn.”

* “What happens once will never happen again. But what happens twice will
surely happen a third time.”

* “The fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself.”

* “If I am really part of your dream, you will come back one day.”
(Fatima)

Wonderful way of putting it..

One who has the wisdom to follow his dreams, is the luckiest and the wisest person in the world!!

Even if it takes him back to his own reality, pursuing it is worth it …

I wish I could.. :-)
“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.”

Alchemist said : Believe in ur dreams..

Eleanor Roosevelt said: “The future belongs to those who
believe in the beauty of their dreams”.

I think , The future belongs to those who believe in, the beauty IN THEIR dreams “.
;-)
Just kidding …………..

But on an after thought , read “Eleven MInutes” by the same author. You’ll start wondering……. is this all bout life?

Yes, the Alchemist has literally changed the way I perceive life…
“All universe conspires in helping you achieve your dream”, is a kind of concept that is absolutely exhilarating & electrifying!
His other books like ‘By the River Piedra I sat down & wept’, ‘Maktub’, ‘The Zahir’, ‘Veronica decides to die’, & ‘Eleven Minutes’ are worth reading as well. (I have not yet read his ‘The Fifth Mountain’, ‘The Devil and Miss Prym’ and ‘To Be Like a River Flowing’. But am trying to get my hands on those as well). But the Alchemist will always remain my favourite…

Im malayalee as well…how random.

I just finished The Alchemist, and I must say - its changed my life. This book itself found its way to me in the most unusual way. I was in NYC visitng…I had been going through some rough times in my life lately. When it was time for me to leave - there was no one in the apartment. When I went to pack the last of my bags, there in my bag lay the book. In the book was a note from my cousin and she wrote, “hey kiddo - take this book with you”. She had left it for me in my bag (before she left for work) while I was sleeping.

This book has changed my life.

There were moments in the book when I had to close the book and was moved to tears because the TRUTH, from the passages, ressonated in my heart. This book has changed my life.
