Thanks to this site I remembered one of my favorite stories today. Last Leaf Now I have found a site named after my favorite story and another site named after my favorite poem.
Last Leaf and O.Henry are my personal favorites. The O.Henry twist !!! is there someone else who can write like that ? I don’t think so. That was my first attraction. Then I started admiring the sincere way of narration.
Purified sentences, without no extra dose of spice ( its tasty enough though ). Thats technical skill of a writer, be able to convey things in the most simple and beautiful way.
Miles to Go before I sleep is something made me think a lot. Its something inflenced the way I think. Its something touched me so deep.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
I went on reading these lines again and again. There is nothing much I can write about it. Its something I love, I feel and I live….

‘The last leaf’ even influenced me at the age of 12.and of course the poem do make everyone think;)……….nice 2 know that u too like it
but I still dont get it ..why Henry died as a pauper with all these valuables???

On the topic of poems, I quite like the poem you have linked under “Friend”
The bit about “how fast you knew my thoughts” made me laugh - I sometimes tease my friends about them reading my mind… but this isn’t even just about them reading my mind, but how fast!

Thank you Rekha…. hmmm that made me think about reading O.Henry’s life story. I have a book with almost all the stories by him. I will need to digg a little to get that info somewhere….
