Manage your website or Blog better - know your visitors !

October 25th, 2007 · 8 Comments · blogging

A simple thing that you can start with, while learning how to manage or market your website well, is to know who is visiting your website or blog.

Once you know who is visiting, you can figure out what they are looking for. The best way to do this, is to look for the search engine terms. There are a few words that people use to search, and ended up in your site or blog.

If you are using wordpress, you will get them easily, on the wordpress.com stats page. ( If you are on wordpress self hosted, let me know, I will give you the link for the wordpress.com stats plugin. ) If you are using Sitemeter stats, there is an option to see “referrals. Most of the times, these referrals are from search engines. Click on those links and you will search the search results page, with the search engine terms that we are looking for.

Now you know what people expect from you. What people are looking for in your blog, now next step is to give them more, of what they are asking you for ! Simple ! ( I know it isn’t that simple, when you actually start doing it )

So the first step is to know what you wan to do, and second is to add more of it. By doing so, you get more visitors, your visitors stay with you and you develop your own identity and lot more !!

So, start doing it now ! Add a few more posts to that category which brought you more visitors and let me know what the result is !

first, add ur site to search engine submitters(availabe freely)
second,If u want more visitors caption should be catchy(make it as illlusive as possible)

Im not sure if your thought is right. If you go after search engine terms, you cant really get to what they need. SEO is just a way of crawling things under the post you have made.

If you really need to make visitors you should look at the things what people really look for generally.

I have 2 success lines. Shakespeare and Che are some of the main search terms, i put 2 posts in their names and truely i get not less than 100 hits for those posts.

Lyrics are some markets i have launched in to. they work better than any other.

I was not talking about getting more visitors, by adding popular terms, like lyrics. If you are writing about a possible green world, and focusing on it … you cant put some lyrics, just to get some hits, but if you see, more visitors, looking for some resource in your blog, add more of that content .. thats the whole idea…
