I just received an email forward, starting with following lines
“”Om Jai Google Hare !!
Swami Jai Google hare
Programmers ke sankat, Developers ke Sankat,
Click main door kare!!
Om Jai Google Hare !!”"
This is making me write something more about Google.
Most of the times, when we are in need of instant information, its google that helps us. Before I give up on any issue, that I come across while at work, I try google once, to see if that helps.
That does not mean that whatever you find there, is correct.
“Google is neither affiliated with the authors of this page nor responsible for its content.” thats what Google says, if you have noticed it. That means, we are responsible for what we find on google. If there is a high ranked website, which says Indian Independence Day is August 16th, there are chances, for a considerable amount of people to believe that it truly is on 16th.
How will you make sure that what you found on a google search, is correct ? What all things or steps that you personally take, or consider while you search for something on any search engine?
I leave this for an open discussion, to figure out different ways to do this, and present it in a good format for all of you out there !!

Ok, something happened here and it was secret. It became secret because I forgot to tell you, rather, I did not get time to tell you all about it.
This website was moved to another server. The idea of server move happened to me all of a sudden, and I already had the account ready. Since I had a lot of test stuff, all thoe CMS, Joomla Drupal, Mambo etc etc installed on the old account I left the idea of the normal cPanel to cPanel account move.
I installed wordpress here, on root directory, and moved posts in xml format. So, all the links that worked under dinsan.info/blog will not work any more. The new installation is on dinsan.info and not on the sub folder blog. Because of this, all the links pointed to dinsan.info/blog and most of the image links will not work. It will take a bit longer for me to fix all of them. So, if you find a broken link or image, just excuse it.
I would love to hear from you, if you find any difference in the speed of website, or any areas !!
I am not sure how long it is going to take this new location to get indexed on google and bring all those traffic back. I have already lost the pagerank I had hmm still, hope for the best.
Merry Christmas to all !!! Have fun……..

Are you still boycotting blogger ?
“The Blogger issue has been really bothering me ever since I discovered that non-Bloggers users are being forced to leave a “Nickname” or comment Anonymously, without giving you the option of leaving behind the URL of your blog.” Ruhi

Myndfcukd

Ashish

Amrita
Now, all those who boycotted blogger ( including you Ruhi ) can come back and post comments on blogger and leave your blog url there , Yes, you are no longer anonymous !
Blogger is now “Open ID” enabled.
“After just two short weeks of testing on Blogger in draft, OpenID commenting is now available for all Blogger blogs. This means that your friends and readers can leave authenticated comments on your blog using their blog URLs from OpenID-enabledWordPress.com, LiveJournal, and AOL Journals, or with their AOL/AIM accounts.”

Yahoo! always had its own approach to web 2.0 ( thats what I felt hmm ). It always tried to build its own social networking, its own communities etc. This may not be 100% true, but, when comparing to all those happenings in the web 2.0 world, Yahoo! tried to be different, in its own way. Now, here is a news that made me start thinking the other way, or perhaps, Yahoo has started thinking the other way too !!
Yahoo ! announced? Yahoo Shortcuts, which will automatically detect keywords on your blogpost and suggest links, enhancing and enriching the content. In the beta release, its being offered as a wordpress plugin !! You can read more about this here and get a free T shirt, for installing the plugin on your blog, provided you are located in the USA
For those who Boycott Blogger, you must start loving Yahoo now,Iin the Yahoo Google Cold War,? if google has is “blogger”, Yahoo can think about a? deal with wordpress right ?, if that is the case, Yahoo is on the right track. To confirm this, we will wait for more stuff coming out from Yahoo+wordpress team. If yahoo find this shortcut plugin performing well, I think they will bring more stuff,I am pretty sure ( voww who are you ? eh ? ). I think Mat, and all the wordpress team also understand this very well, because they are promoting this plugin very well also, the position of the plugin manager right on top of your “create new post” page, also suggests the same. . If things go pretty well, you should see the plugin soon on blogs hosted on wordpress.com too.
I am giving this plugin a try, should go through old posts to test them. Do you want to read a review from me ? Did you find this plugin useful ? drop your comments here !
Update : I am loving this flickr photo and yahoo finance badge.. I dont have to search for images, download them, or link them … I still need to find more stuff !! what you think ? Isn’t it making the posts enriched ?

Even when we use gmail and gtalk for most of our chat and email, we often go back to Yahoo, for video and Webcam. What if you have webcam also, on your gtalk or gmail ? Well, don’t get excited, the feature is yet to be announced. But, I think, its on its way. Reason ? Google announced recently, that Google Talk gadget users will now be able to take a picture directly from the webcam to use as their profile picture gtalk.
” Currently, this feature only works in the Google Talk gadget, but will set your picture across the Google Talk network, including in Gmail.”
Yahoo never allowed us to use webcam from a linux machine, will google enable that feature ? Thats my concern now.
How To
From the Google Talk gadget, click on your Google Talk picture, and select the “Take Photo” option. You’ll see the image from your webcam appear, and you’ll be able to take and retake pix to your heart’s content. When you get that perfect shot, just click “Save” to set it as your picture.
Currently, this feature only works in the Google Talk gadget, but will set your picture across the Google Talk network, including in Gmail.

Google has taken another step forward with allowing orkut users to keep their scrapbook and feeds.
” And now, we’re announcing that we’ve expanded privacy settings so you can now do the same with your scrapbook and feeds. Though some of us feel perfectly comfortable keeping our scraps open to the community, we know some of you are more private and would prefer to keep them among friends. How do we know? We’ve heard you in the help group and help center, and we’ve listened! Limiting who can view your scrapbook has been a long requested feature on orkut”
Still, we always expect more about orkut privacy, may be because its more and more insecure these days ? I have been using it for more than 2 years now, and I have personally experienced the number of misuses increasing
Have you noticed any possible security issue with orkut ? You got any suggestions ? I am in search for them !!
PS: Been busy all this week
sorry for the delay in reporting this..even though I know you all read this somewhere else before my post
I am thinking how to get you news before anyone else ( ***ssssh )
News Source
December 7th, 2007 — google
Yes, I do, 5 of them. Now if you have a few, here is news for you.
“….community owners can now display a news feed on that subject within the community. So while you talk to your fellow members, you can see what’s in the news on the same subject, without leaving orkut. When this feature is available for your community you will see a message on its page. Click on the “edit profile” link from that community and you’ll see a new feature, called “customized news”. Once you click to enable it, you will enter the subject or term you’d like news about.”
If utilized well, this can be helpful. But, I am not sure how matured orkut communities are, to use it for good causes.
And, have you joined the wordpress community on orkut ?
