Exclusive : Ruhi is in love !!!

February 4th, 2008 · 13 Comments · Uncategorized

Ssssh !! this is a secret…. Ruhi, is in love !!! with our one and only Gmail !! Read her love story here What’s my role in this love story ? Somehow, me and Ish were messengers for these lovers, trying to meet and talk !! Read more…………. from her comment about our role !!

“You’ll find this really weird. Till a couple of hours back, I was all pro-Yahoo. But now, I’m all pro- Gmail. 6+ GB is anyway a lot of space, if you separate all your email accounts, right? And it’s only increasing every single day. There are also other forwarding options available that let you forward your email from one gmail account to another…anyway you must be knowing all this. I’ve never used all these features, until today. :) Dinsan will be very happy to know that finally I’ve converted to Gmail full time. Haha.”

So, welcome Ruhi………………….

Thank you for dedicating a post to me. I’m quite flattered. :P I’m using all my gmail accounts with mozilla thunderbird now and it’s quite a relief. But I feel that yahoo’s security system is better. I hope GMail improves theirs.

Btw, the IMAP thing will remain free forever, right? I’m using Ypops to access my yahoo inbox from thunderbird.

IMAP should remain free, coz Google has other stuff on paid platform, using google apps on domains… lot of interesting stuff, to make it simple, customized, personalized versions of most of their free services.. so ,I think, what is free now, will remain free for a longer time period :)

Cool then :) I’m looking at GMail with new pair of eyes. :P Btw, I’m finding Thunderbird to be much better than Outlook 2007. you might want to take a look. It’s loading faster too. And if you love google, you shouldn’t be using microsoft products. ;)

I am using Kmail of Linux… and while I was using Xp for sometime, I was using Thunderbird LOL.. thanks for suggesting though ;) and soon I will have XP @ Lap, and Fedora linux @ work.. but since I configured my POP account on Gmail itself, I may not consider downloading Thunderbird.. as I said, I like to keep my comp light :)

Ohh I forgot that you use Linux. But Thunderbird even has a Linux version. :) Anyway you’ll know better. I hardly know anything about Linux.

And why POP? Aren’t you using IMAP?

Even I like to keep my computer as light as possible and minimize the use of applications. :) That’s why I hate MSFT products in general and avoid using them.

IMAP, is useful when you need to us webmail and POP at the same time. You get an email from me.. you read it on webmail and when you come back home and check your mail on your thunderbird.. you will still see it as unread, unless you are using IMAP… but IMAP makes it like this, you read a mail from webmail, it goes unread in your POP client too… but what if you read your only @ one place ? like on a laptop ? you really dont care Webmail interface right ? so, I only POP… I am not sure, if I explained it well.. but let me know your questions :)

I think you are getting confused here. :) I use email only from home and I use IMAP because whatever changes I make in my desktop client is also made in my online inbox- whether it is reading, deleting etc.

Whereas on POP, whatever you do on desktop won’t be reflected online. If you read a mail online, the desktop client will still show it as unread. So POP is of use if you’re accessing the same mail from two places. :)
Unless I misunderstood your language. But I use emails from only my laptop; so I use IMAP- whatever i do on my desktop is instantly changed in the online inbox.

Vowww I was trying to explain this to you, and got everything confused with my words.. but you have a really good idea of what things are… so I think.. my job is over there.. and dont think that I am confused with it.. its just that I wrote it in a confusing way ;) I get to troubleshoot a bunch of POP and IMAP issues on a daily basis.. not hard core technical issues, but level I issues.. so both of us —- safe :)

Dude, you’ve got to learn not to take Ruhi seriously. She doesn’t mean what she says. y’know.

Right after she claimed that she loves Google, she changed tracks and says she loves MS. So unpredictable you are Ruhi. :P

Yeah, she’s totally that kind of a woman. In three words, she’s dhokhebaaz, dagabaaz, bluffmaster. :P And now she’s gonna kill me. :P
I’ve fallen in love with this theme of yours. I’m pretty sure if I go the self hosted way, I’m gonna use this theme. Why don’t you make your own customized headers though? Should be a cool thing to do shouldn’t it?
