Yahoo! is getting ready for something like Google Adsense. Well, its not a “new news”, I know. However, If you do not know about it yet, check out publisher.yahoo.com. I am just wondering when they are actually launching it. Just curious. I tried to check that out but, I got a response saying that Its still under Beta version and I think it’s been in that stage for long time now.
Question for you : Do you think, if Yahoo! launches their program soon, do you think its going to gain popularity ?
I have one reason to say it may. It has paypal as a payment option, which will attract non-us publishers. Google’s checks takes ages to arrive and get cleared. But, with paypal, things get faster. However, Google can add paypal anytime, and Yahoo! may loose that advantage too. Or Google might look at acquring paypal too lol !!
Yahoo! should concentrate on bringing new publishers in. I think they can try something like what they did with the Wordpress plugin. They can concentrate on wordpess ( self hosted ) publishers and bring some easy tool. Or they can offer good referral rewards.
The reason why I suggest concentrating on new users, is because its tough to get people to move out from Google adsense and make them join Yahoo!’s program. Because, its little tough to set up things again and get established. If they really want to solve this problem, hmmm I think they can offer something more for people those who migrate from Google Adsense !! well, don’t blame me if Google posts something about on their post, saying this is bad business lol
PS: Is there any opening in Yahoo! Publisher Network office !!!!!
just kiddin…

One thing is certain. Google will not add Paypal anytime soon. They created their own payment service, Google Checkout, as a monetisation measure and an e-commerce enabler to complete the chain from search-to-locate-to-buy. They can add features to it, sure, but Paypal is essentially a rival service.
Why don’t you give them some feedback on their Official Blog? They seem to keep track of features requested and give updates on many of their products/ services.
@ Shefaly…
First of all..I liked your comment a lot
it has lot of valid points..
Yes, google checkout is there, its a shopping cart thing as of now and it will take more time to develop in to a system were people can send and receive money easily. You made me think in that direction too. Google might be planning something like paypal for sure and thats the main reason behind paypal not being added to their list. Well, they may try to acquire paypal sometime .. first I thought it as a joke, but now I feel, it can happen…
About giving feedback.. I felt that they might have already considered paypal long term back and got hundreds of emails asking for paypal feature, I am sure.. and there should be a strong reason for them for not adding it on..
However, I have sent a suggestion to Google Adsense team.. about ad formats.. I will definitely let u all know if I get a reply
Dinsan, Paypal is Ebay’s product and Ebay and Google had a tiff sometime back. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but Google went to the extent of telling Ebay that Google won’t be listing Ebay search results in its Search Engine results anymore.
So bottomline: Google won’t acquire Paypal and Ebay won’t part with Paypal because Paypal bring them a lot of money and it’s THE golden seal for checkouts.
@ Ruhi
Thanks for that interesting piece of information Ruhi
Yes, if thats true, there is chance of a Paypal being acquired or not even added as a payment method of Google Adsense.
That means, if Yahoo! does it well, ( technically and in many other ways ) its going to give tough competition for Google, especially in Non-US Market. It can be a good way for Yahoo! for a comeback.. Now, I should be more careful in tracking Yahoo! publisher network program
it’ good
it’s good and better feature.
Dinsan: Despite what Ruhi says, Google powers searches on eBay, and that alliance can result into what are called strategic rigidities for both parties. And of course as Ruhi said, eBay owns Paypal.
