I know that it is easy to answer that question. It will be few numbers, the price the mobile that you own, or of a handset that you are planning to purchase. Adding to the list of questions that I have been asking you all these days, here is another one
How much should we spend on a Mobile Phone ?
Now, that is an interesting question. Let me make it little more confusing.
Is it ok to have a phone worth some Rs.2000 , with nothing more than call + sms facility ?
Or spend a little more to add an FM receiver to it ?
Should I have a color handset like my friends ?
What will girls think of me if my Mobile has no camera in it ?
When they compare the clarity of photos, I will need a 3.2 MP camera on mine .. so I should spend a little more on that right ?
What if I don’t have enough space to store music ….
Now, let me ask you again … how much should we spend on a mobile phone ?

it depends on ur need. for me i have two phones. one for ma work place with just basics no cam, no fm nothing. just for calls and sms.
the other one, well i dont know why i bought it, but i dont need it. it has everything. z6 Motorkr
I think it depends on ur need. like if u own a digital camera and a portable music player go for some stylish phones and not with the features they offer.
Like dont be bothered about the MP it offer or the storage space.
I have not bothered to change the songs in my z6 like for an year now. I bought it last aug.
I bought the
@ Xylene
Sounds good… I’ve two phones too. Howz your experience with Moto ?
I agree with xylene. It totally depends upon what you use the mobile for. It for flaunting in front of friends(including any one in the world) or just for your need. If i was there i can shell out a max of 10K and that will get a phone with a great camera, mp3 player and stuffs.
@ s4n705h
Seems 10k is most of us agree with .. right ? for a decent phone with most of the features ?
moto is okay. but battery is pretty bad.
10k is the most ur shud spent on a phone. if u want all the features then go for a pda.
@ Xylene
Well, 10k .. ok ok … amt ..
PDA ? I would say no, unless you really need to do some business on
the go … otherwise, its huge, costly, and bad on entrainment side
I a kinda rough with mu cell (drop it on the floor thrice a day.. throw it at the dogs on the road to scare them away type =P)
So I prefer cheap Nokia cell phones..
I don’t use it as style statement so I never bothered to buy a better phone
@ Balu
Throwing the cell at dogs to scare them away ?
:(
where is your Malayalam blog, btw !!
well, it all depends on ur interest than ur need ,,
because all u need is call and sms facilities..things like camera and music are add ons..if u are interested u can buy a costlier one..
i have W810i whihc i got for 9800..
my dad has a lg phone that cost around 1800 (with fm whihc my father never use)
WEll dont ever go for one moto ..i strongly suggest u , i know the story of two motos, motorazr n my motoslvr that dint work well even for 1 whole year
, well u should have one camera , else only one gal would look at u
Btw how much u spend on a mobile phone depends upon how crzy ur abt mobile phones n ur pocket
btw u bought one only an year before na? ??????
@ Arvind
Okay, so we have need/vs interest ? or is the same thing ? something people need and something people are interested in ?
@ Rekha
Nice judgment !!! if girls are going to look at me, I will carry a digital cam itself
yeah ofcourse..need and interest are two things different …i dont use my camera and my walkman daily but yeah i use it for talking whihc is what we need of a mobile..but as i may be interested in clicking a few pictures i bought one with a camera..
and yeah for upper class people it does and has become a style statement…they wont use any feature but they will have a PDA worth 30 k..
I have never used my phone to do anything more than a SMS, call and camera. The rest all (bluetooth, infrared, net browsing, gprs etc) is of no use.
I still trust my creative zen 8GB to carry all my music.
@ Arvind
But,its always helpful if you have a camera on the go, so mobile cam helps
@ Philip
No to Bluetooth ?? you are not using it ? hmmm one more question buddy, is Zen better than iPod ?
I prefer only nokia sets. And while buying it all depends on what you like. If you like to listen to musics and stuff, the the music editions would be a great choice.
If not, go with the basic phones.
I was planning to get the 5310. Seems to be a good phone. But my plans are to grab the big one… N81 (8 GB)
And ya, dont ever fall for Motorola…. SUCKS BIGTIME…
@ Joel
Hmmm so you are ready to spend more than 10
Yea, moto has a bad reputation here in India, but I think its different picture elsewhere
Hmmmm maybe..
50-50.. My parents 50 and I 50..
LOL 50% from parents.. that explains it better … you will make a 10k and get another 10k from parents and you can try for an “almost” PDA handset
I found no reason for bluetooth and ya, i hate even hands free. If anyone is talking to me over handsfree, i ask them to remove that and talk direct. I hate the disturbance that happens when talking over handsfree.
I find Creative ZEN to be better than iPod. Have tried playing around with both. With ipod you are tied down to itunes and is sometimes difficult to copy pirated songs. Zen works like a charm, can be used as an external hard disk, can sync songs using creative software, windows media player or even copy paste using windows explorer. It has radio, microphone, calendar etc. In short, it does everything that ipod does and much more at a very cheap price. iPod is nothing but hot gas. Just a show off, even its headphones suck.
Have been using a Creative Zen for more than 4 yrs now.
@ Philip
Okay, I thought you will be using it atleast for transferring files
Zen .. ok … I haven’t tried it.. but I am planning to get an iPod nano ..
what you think
Hmmm great thought to ponder!! I feel it depends on what are your needs…like if you want your phone to be your organizer too and you’re on constant move then a high end model would be good..but as a student -I feel @5000 buck phone would do with FM as there would be not many tears shed if the set gets stolen from hostel or class (quite popular)…….I currently hav a nokia 6101 since two years ad am thinking about buying an iPHONE as am a music freak…and listening all the time!
@ Fruity
Yep a $199 iPhone 3G would be a great choice for a working - music freak .. just that it doesn’t have video recording ..
hellow guyes i use mobile phone for the purpose of connect with my family bcoz i live in hostal and i need mobile to talk to my best friends and family
