Wordpress 2.6 Beta 1 and me
This time, I decided to try the beta version on my blog. I am using it on a live blog, ( not this one ). It should be interesting right ? checking for bugs and reporting them ? … I am new to this, so not quite sure, what, when, where and how etc. Will keep you all updated. !!
Theme Updates
Now, something about this theme and blog. I removed the flickr part on the footer of the blog. Added tags to each post. Now, I need to make this theme Gravatar compatible. I am yet to finish the about me page and yes, the header image is still blank. Is it annoying guys ?. I am not a good designer, so you will have to wait until I do something about it !! Any new comments or suggestions about the theme ?

Wow another version .. I just got done installing the last update. wowow..
@ Wirmdahl
Yes, another version on its way, may take a few months though, but its good that there is ongoing effort to improve wordpress.
But, at the same time, those who manage a bunch of sites together with wordpress, complains that Wordpress should slow down and make it may be, yearly or twice in an year .. major releases with more updates… which is also true ..
THis is nice theme. Tell me how should I take backup of my wordpress blog, in case wordpress blocks my blog or something?
@ Poonam
I believe you are referring to wordpress.com blog, if that’s the case, here is what you need to do
( not sure if there are other methods, but I find this easy and fast method )
Login to Dashboard
Click on “Manage”
Now on “Export”
Select author, or all authors and then click on ” Download Export File”
You will get an XML file. Save this as a backup. When you need to restore, click on “Import” instead of “export” and select wordpress, and upload the xml file
Easy ?
i am using the free blog, so this wont be doing me any good right?
@ Xylene
Don’t worry, they will update the wordpress.com installation also …
so you should get most of these features on your wordpress.com blog too, but it may take a little time, may be one or two weeks after the release .. well, Wordpress is fast ..
Yeah, it is scheduled for release on August 7. Will see how that works. And b default they are disabling the XML-RPC..
Another head-ache…!
What are the possible issues when disable XML-RPC ?
Other than post revisions and google gears, I do not see any thing important in this release .. are they in a hurry to change the numbers ? 2.3. 2.4 2.5 2.6 !!!
I am to nervous still… last time I upgraded I got tons of bugs to work through… I will stay posted and see what you find out. Hey thanks for checking out my blog today, come back anytime.

@ Joel
When you upgrade from an older version to 2.6, it will be turned on by default ….. further reading here

@ Amie,
So far, 2.6 is not that bad, if you are not using some other software to access the admin part or posting .. like Windows Live Writer …
