Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children wins 40-year Best of the Booker Prize …..

“Almost 30 years ago, his novel Midnight’s Children saw off the competition to win the Booker Prize. Today, Sir Salman Rushdie did it again, beating all previous Booker winners including the Nobel laureates Doris Lessing, J.M. Coetzee and Nadine Gordimer to carry away a one-off literary award celebrating the Booker’s 40th anniversary.

Midnight’s Children, considered one of the most important works of the modern age, has been voted the greatest Booker Prizewinner in the history of the award.”

This is a news indeed , especially when you are reading another Booker Price Winning Work !!

I am yet to read this book … sad .. right ? are there great souls who have read this book already ? will you share some thoughts with me ? .. I should look for the book now ..

Don’t you think it’s a good time to renew my Library membership, back home !! Yes !!! I should do it this weekend .. hmmm … Nostalgia .. again …  Just a small but important update about God of Small Things ..  I am at 60th page now … !!

I think Rushdie’s this book was best. Though I sometimes find it irritating to sift the story parts from the other literary crap he writes :(

I have read the book. It is the best work by Rushdie. Its a complete chaos when it begins but soon you can see the method in the madness. Do read it. Its a crazy story in a way. :)

Although not a regular Rushdie reader, I’ve begun reading Midnight’s Children a few days back and have read a hundred pages or so. Its about a boy who is born on the exact same time as India attained independence and the happenings in his ans his family’s life are intertwined with those of important political events in India.
So far I didn’t quite like the “come come, sit sit” style that he resorts to but there are flashes of brilliance in his style of writing (yeah- here I am taking jabs at a 3-time Booker winning novel). I hope I like the story as it progresses.

Maybe I should read more of the book to give you a proper insight, but that’s what I have to say so far. Hope that helps.
