Teach Our Children, ” How to Blog”

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

If you elect me to the Ministry of Education, I will make blogging a part of the school curriculum for sure. Or, at least , a part of extra curricular activities and we can have exams or competitions for blogging. What you think ?. “State Level Blogging Championship 2008″ vow !! sounds cool….. isn’t it ?

Okay, that was not a joke. Isn’t it a good idea to introduce children to blogging right from the school ?. Or, introduce them to “Web 2.0″ in their early ages ?.

The future is Internet, ( questions  anyone ? ) and the future ( or present ? ) of internet is Web 2.0. where knowing things earlier than everyone else, and having access to information is the key factor.

For our children to be able to compete there in the future, they need to know “how to know things fast”. Or, let us say, to use Google effectively, to know the “How To”s of blogging, Social networking, and more. ( Yes, you can add more to this list !! )

Do you agree ?

My knowledge about this topic is very limited. It is possible that someone, somewhere is actually doing something like this, or something better than this. If you know anything about this, please let me know, because I am really interested in this.

Its a great idea. Since computers have already reached most of the school, they can include this in competitions.
We already have essay writing competitions right? Something similar.
But then is the education ministry listening? or are they still busy with including some dumb topics in textbooks?

@ Xylene

Well it isn’t a bad idea to introduce such activity in schools or colleges. But do you think that students would be interested in it?
In a class of strength 100, only 10 or 15 may turn up for this. But the others wouldn’t like it. Its coz they think it is boring and all other stupid reasons. You can see it in your class itself. Most of them will dozing all the time and this might also happen there too and yet another burden for them by adding this as a part of the syllabus.

Adding this as a part of the syllabus is a bad idea. But adding this as a part of co-curricular activity is a pretty fair enough.

P.S This according to my experience and what I feel about it…

Nice idea. But, i fear, 2 out of 40 will be interested. Take my example. I am the only blogger in my class. Or i can even say school.

#13 dinu on 07.16.08 at 3:02 pm

@ Hasit

But, we can organize children who are interested in this right ? We need to give them chance to learn more !!!

#14 Hasit on 07.16.08 at 8:13 pm

see according to my stats, if u take a class of 40, i say approx 7 will say yes with excitement. 5 out of them will make a blog and forget about it. and the remaining 2 will only be writing regularly.
i agree. less people is ok. we should start somewhere. in this age, technology is the need. we have to get the people interested.

That 2 people can make a difference and we need to get them together. I was trying to promote the concept of a campus blog (online version of the magazine ) and I must say that I am finding it really hard to convince the authorities.

Can we join together and make this happen ?
