Chetan Bhagat, Screw him !!

Not really, just that I learned use this cool phrase from his book, “Five point someone”. Don’t ask me if this is the only thing I learned from that book ok ?

Let me tell you something, I am not reviewing the book here, ok ? I can’t review any book, actually, ( I really don’t know how to !! someone teach me ? ) All I can do is,  share my experience; is that the thing that you call book review ? uhmm, I am not quite sure,

This one was a fun read, easy to follow, and funny, most of the times. I felt that I am in a conversation with the author, and I didn’t want the book to have an end at all….

Fighting Readers Block ….

I was finding it hard to read more books, like how I used to do, during my college days. Now, with this book, I realize that my tastes have changed, and I should think about something “young” - this one, of course. I finished this book in 6 days which is pretty fast, compared to my average speed these days and now I feel like reading more .

download ebooks and read. save money. So that even if you dont like the book, the only thing you wasted is the download time. ;)

5 point someone was better than the other 2 books. Don’t read 3 mistakes….it’s a waste of time. Humph.
You took 5 days to read it ?? =D
If you like ‘light’ hearted books, try P.G.Woodhouse !! =D

e-books, don’t think it will work .. when I am on the comp, chance for loads of distractions .. and you can carry ebooks just like that, right ? but, I would love, if I get Amazon’s Kindle

    @ Nikhil

hmm, yes, I did :D and I loved this book anyway, may be I just loved it’s language and plot … but he made me read, that’s the important thing for me now

    thanks for the suggestion :)

Some years ago I liked reading books, but, right now, I haven’t time to do it, and sincerely I think that I couldn’t be able to read a book in a short time, like I did many years ago. :)

sorry, I couldn’t give u any advices, ’cause, like I have already said, right now I am not a good reader! *HUGS/KISSES*

  13. chirag

Dude I think Chetan had one good story and it ended with 5 point someone, after which he is desperately trying re create the magic, and failing.

On reading books I used to read A book a day now I have not finished a book I picked up 3 months back :(

  14. dinu

    @ Smallstar

thanks :) no problem.. hope you will start reading again very soon :)

    @ Chirag

haa another guy in the same condition :D I am happy hi hi .. :)
and Chetan .. hmm there are chances that the truth is, just like you said, no more interesting stories to share .. :) but, I can’t make a judgment coz I am yet to read the rest of his books….

  17. Mayank

I’m not sure why people think that his books’ standard is going down. Actually I find them pretty fun.. .although very bollywood style :P I don’t read much books although I want to but then I hardly get any time from my blogging work.

I haven’t read five point someone …have read the call center one and the third cricket one…and found them pretty entertaining :)

  18. amit

I have never read his books. Don’t know why but whenever my hands move towards them, my mind pulls them back. :|

  19. dinu

    @ Mayan

standards going down ? :( ok .. then I am lucky enough to read only the first book :) and yea, I feel they are written in a bollywood style .. and five point someone will make a good movie, I am sure.

    @ amit

lol ok, after reading comments from you all, I feel I will start doing the same !!

  20. Ruhi

To Kill a Mockingbird. Or maybe the God of Small Things—since you are quite close to Kerala, I think you’ll like the latter. :) It’s all about Kerala and the story revolves around Syrian Christians from Kerala.

  21. arvind

i have not read any chetan bhagat books ..though i am curious why india is going gaga over him and his books ..
I am a fiction guy so i can tell u loads of fiction books u must read. .
    what say ??
as u said ur tastes have changed i am not writing the book names here :P

  22. dinu

    @ Ruhi

I am not “quite close to kerala” I am living in Kerala, that too for over 23 years ;) and god of small things ? :D I am still reading it .. we have few posts about it here …

    @ arvind

Okay, as Mayank said, his books are bollywood style :) and that is they are so popular …

  23. Joel

@Mayank : Seriously yes! He writes as if he writing a script/story for a bollywood movie :P

And reading his books are of no use. They have no meaning at all! Here’s a review of the 3 mistakes of my life!

  24. dinu

    @ Joel

okay, I agree, there was no big meaning, in his blog, but it was fun read, and thats what I wanted, for now, to get myself back on track :)

  25. Suda

I am going to shout now…. DON’T READ HIS THIRD BOOK, ITS THE WORSE ONE!!!

Ok fine, read Life of PI, its pretty cool book (thanks to Nikhil and Scorpria :P )

  26. dinu

    @ Suda

ok, here comes another comment against that book :) life of pi, is it a tough read ? I am finding it hard to read books complete … so, I am looking for simple books ..

  27. Suda

It very simple, I finished it in 3 days or say 3 nights. And its gooooood :) and man booker award winner :)

  28. dinu

    @ Suda

humm, sounds interesting :) I have a review of the book pending in my google reader :) when are you adding yours dude ? :)

  29. Smita

I have read this book thrice…may be the fact that it is in a way my alma mater made a difference….
