Do you need a Self Hosted WordPress blog ? Read this and Learn how to do that !!

When I started writing about “how to move to a self hosted wordpress blog”, I found that, more than 80% of people on wordpress.com blogs or free blogspot blogs want to have their own domain name, and move to a self hosted blog, ( yes, using wordpress, most of them said ).

Since I work in the webhosting industry, I thought, I would share what I know about hosting and self hosted wordpress.

If you are planning to start  a self hosted wordpress blog, or move your existing blog to a self hosted blog, you MUST read all these posts.

Great post!
Anyways, I moved from Blogger to Self Hosted WP sometime back.
Some old time blogspot bloggers like me would have used Haloscan.
You may add tips to export Haloscan comments to xml and then import to WP.
People have already written on the same.
I had to install a plugin to extract blogger ids before importing haloscan comments to WP. I still feel that step was unnecessary. Yet to try the same again and figure if that step was needed.

well i have nt ever felt like moving to a self hosted one …when i felt like experimenting with designs ..one mr.donkey bought me a CSS upgrade !! :P

Hi ,

I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be very good.. u write well.. Why don’t you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ‘blog of small things’ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;

BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run http://www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!

This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)
