Why do you need a self hosted WordPress Blog ?

Tags: , ,

Do you want to host a wordpress blog ? I know the answer is YES …  and I have another question for you -  “WHY”. Why do you need a self hosted wordpress blog ?

To own yourowndomain.com ?
To Experience and  Experiment ?
Make money with ads ?
Anything else ?

If you already have one …..

If you already have a self hosted wordpress, I need to know; what made you sign up for one ?.

I had a Q – If I get a self hosted blog, do I get to customize it myself ?? Like the header, sidebar and stuff ??
I would like to do all this but I’m not sure if I should get one or not :(

@ Priya

you can : upload new themes, plugins, change headers, sidebar, colors, css, and a lot so that means .. you get full control : “EVERYTHING “

Because having a blogspot.com blog is not professional for a web developer.

hmm fair enough :) and blogger doesn’t give much freedom, even if you set up that on your own domain .. right ?

@ Hasit

it is not even 5% hard as you think !!!!! trust me !!! installing wordpress and managing it, is really easy, you need to know html css php etc, only for making changes to your files, themes, plugins etc.. which you will learn, as you play around with all these :)

Mostly to “Experience and Experiment”. I have the hosting for other things and I sometimes want to integrate things.

Also I want to have my data somewhere I know where it is and what I can do with it.
