I have no idea why I am spending this much time on twitter. When I have nothing else to do, I keep reloading my twitter page for new tweets ( I haven’t installed any twitter tool yet .. may be I will, soon .. ). And even when I have something important to do, I keep coming back to twitter, for another reload.
I created twitter account a few months back and left it there and Twitter was not popular like this. Even when I saw twitter’s popularity growing, I didn’t feel like using it because I had nothing to do with twitter, or I have no idea what the use was, for me.
Initially, like many others I was also thinking this, why should I tell the world “What I am doing” using a website, and 140 characters ? Then twitter changed in to something more … Obama started twittering .. CNN , Facebook, Google … and then Google started worrying about twitter launching search and then ads … people started dreaming about their tweets being published in newspapers like their blog entries do.
Things have changed. I am active on twitter now. Oh wait .. what does that mean ? being active on twitter ? Well, it means less reading time, and more inspiration and information. I find new blogs and bloggers using twitter. I browse through profiles, and read their bio, and then click on their web link … that’s something for killing time.. the reading time.

Nah! Forget it! Not unlessthey start their own ad, email, reader, picture uploading/sharing, video uploading, calender and docs services. I think that would take at least 10 yrs.. Lets have this discussion again then! =D

For every new product, there is an adoption cycle and for Twitter, it is just going mass market. It would be interesting to see how it retains people’s interest through the maturity phase and then possible decline, seeing as it does not have a model to make money yet.

I am not certain yet but I do not apply an extreme utilitarian filter to everything. If I did, I would have to stop interacting with many of my friends and family

Not until it fixes its search features (for now, search results are only the most recent ones unless hashtagged) and provides a way for users to link to the next logical steps from search.

yes, you are correct .. you can not ignore the initial growth, but, it will be tough for them to keep moving, and also start making money out of it .. and yes, unless they provide something more engaging in future, people may loose interest in it ..

I created an account in twitter sometime back and I don’t even remember it now. I have never used it. Somehow the “thing” does not excite me.
