Reading Books, Staying Online, and it Works !!

Staying online and reading books, that’s the new technique that I am testing. Why ?

I tried several times to stay offline  to read more books. But,  twitter, blogs, google reader, comments, chats, orkut, facebook, oh no !! I leave the book there and come back, every time. Do you think I am addicted to blogging or internet in general ? well, I think so ..  and I have started missing books.

After sometime, my online life also became boring, without any special reason. I had nothing new to write about, nothing to talk about. I simply sit there, reloading pages of my blog, or simply browsing through twitter profiles…  and I felt empty, and blank.

That’s when I decided to keep  books  near my laptop. I log in to my twitter, gmail and orkut, open the blog in the first tab .. and then start reading the book. This works !!  I check my twitter and email occasionally .. but I get plenty of time to read.

Dear fellow netizen and twittizens, if you are struggling to finish a book , or have decided to read more books in 2009, try this …  it really works !!

Today only i was talking to someone and telling him that i manage to finish at least a book a week. He asked me how do i take out time. My answer was simple ‘if you are really fond of reading you’ll find a means to read somehow’ and i guess that’s the case with you. Reading is one habit which is difficult to shrug off :-)

i usually read when I am traveling. I cannot do two things at the same time. I have to be completely immersed in the book, inside the setup and story to enjoy it! :)

If I want to do anything offline, I just turn on a Torrent with lots of seeders/leacher – that will effectively block internet access. I can do whatever I want in peace.

I think you struggled to read the book. I usually read books during travel to office, while travelling to kerala in train, travelling in bus…Just need to have a book in hand and a bit of light.
