Wordpress 2.9 will have an Image Editor

by dinu on September 12, 2009

Wordpress is getting it’s own image editor, (  not a plugin,  added to core of wordpress ) . Do not get over excited, it’s not something like photoshop or gimp. But, most of the things you need to do to make an image ready for your blog can be done using this new editor. This includes rotating, resizing and scaling the image.  Have a look at the screenshot, to know what it is, and how it looks like.

Thanks to wpengineer.com for the news and the screenshot. Now, you made me update my wordpress test installation to the latest !!

Answering the usual question, “will this be available on wordpress.com too ?” . Yes, 99%, it should be there for all you blogging beauties on wordpress.com.

After The Dead Line : New Feature on Wordpress.com

Automatic, the company that runs wordpress.com, acquired a startup called “After The Dead Line“. It is a next-generation contextual spelling and grammar checker. Did you notice this new feature on wordpress.com yet ?

See the video to know how it works. This feature is available for wordpress.com users, and self hosted bloggers can download the plugin from here. May be we will see this also added to the core of wordpress sometime in future.

Cool. Does it have the ability to annotate/caption on the images ? I do not see any option to add text in the screenshot above.

If not already check out http://www.picnik.com , it is a very good online photo editor. Of course photoshop is the de-facto on desktops..
