Wordpress Theme Directory : Now Live !!

After releasing Wordpress 2.6 one month ahead of the schedule, here is another cool new update from Wordpress. A theme directory, where you can browse, rate, preview and download themes from. ( Please note that this is only for self hosted Wordpress Blogs. )

Why is it important ?

Digg!

It is important because there is nothing of this sort available elsewhere. Its important because, we really need something like this on Wordpress.

There are thousands of Wordpress themes available. Theme developers have their own download sites, preview blogs and rating options. Even though themes.wordpress.net is there, it is not functional at the moment.

How does it Work ?

Stealing, Threat, Abuse – against a blogger

Here is a news from the Malayalam blogging community, and it is no more an issue of Malayalam Bloggers alone. I am not writing a long post about the issue because you have a lot to read at the pages linked to.

See the first email from the blogger :

You have copied from malayalam blogs and
placed it on your website.
http://www.kerals.com/malayalam/kerala/malayalam.php?f=8
http://kerals.com/malayalam/kerala/malayalam.php?f=15

These links show the copied stories and poems from Malayalam blogs. You have no right to do so. You have ads all over your website. You cannot put ads on copied content. This issue will be reported to your hosting service and to google.

And the reply ? here is a sample.

May be I might dont know how to reply properly, however it’s none of your business since you are another malayali thinks world is under your neath.. Just get rid of all the ego’s and come down to earth.. may be your parents didnt teach you to respect other and get respect.. I am too nice based on your character.. You are Nothing, just another FOB.. So Do NOT think you are on top of me or us.. Rule your husband or familly.. DO NOT TRY TO RULE THE WORLD…

Is iPhone the next big thing on Yahoo! and Google ?

Looking at the news on Yahoo! and Google blogs, I see them thinking about more features and upgrades. So, iPhone is something that we are going to see more mobile features being developed. Its no wonder because iPhone, after is something that comes from the Mac family. Well, Just wondering when they are going to hit Indian market !! or is it already here ? anyone ?

Whats the news that made me think all these, ?

Yahoo! Messenger for Mac, is getting voice feature on it soon !! Well, isn’t it good enough to avoid your mobile bills and just pay the bill for internet on your iPhone ? hmm this is a good one dear Yahoo! and and as far as I know, google is yet to have gtalk with voice on iPhone. If you guys know about it, just drop me a comment.

Now, whats Google doing with iPhone ?

“At Macworld today, version 1.1.3 of Apple’s iPhone software was announced that includes updates to Google Maps for mobile and IMAP access to Gmail. ”

Google Maps is something that I am yet to try something on. So, I can’t comment. But, its really interesting to see IMAP added to iPhone’s Gmail.

Whats IMAP ? If you need a technical explanation, go right here. To make it simple, earlier, when iPhone was just downloading the email from gmail, and keeping it in your phone. The changes that you make on these messages on your iPhone, will not have any effect on your gmail inbox because its already a local file. But with IMAP, you are directly dealing with the contents in your gmail inbox itself, real time.

The most important thing that I see here, is you get the “real” gmail in to your phone not, just a POP access, like normal email IDs of hosted websites ( they have IMAP too, FYI ). Once you have the real Gmail on your phone, don’t you think more feature are going to be added, sooner ?

Is google always right ?

http://blogoscoped.com/files/google-cartoon-02.gifI just received an email forward, starting with following lines

“”Om Jai Google Hare !!
Swami Jai Google hare
Programmers ke sankat, Developers ke Sankat,
Click main door kare!!
Om Jai Google Hare !!”"

This is making me write something more about Google.

Most of the times, when we are in need of instant information, its google that helps us. Before I give up on any issue, that I come across while at work, I try google once, to see if that helps.

That does not mean that whatever you find there, is correct.

“Google is neither affiliated with the authors of this page nor responsible for its content.” thats what Google says, if you have noticed it. That means, we are responsible for what we find on google. If there is a high ranked website, which says Indian Independence Day is August 16th, there are chances, for a considerable amount of people to believe that it truly is on 16th.

How will you make sure that what you found on a google search, is correct ? What all things or steps that you personally take, or consider while you search for something on any search engine?

I leave this for an open discussion, to figure out different ways to do this, and present it in a good format for all of you out there !!

Spam Spam and Spam

How many spam emails do you get ? I am just wondering !!. For me, its more than 50 per day for my personal email accounts. ( 4 of them ). For work email, oh my god I have no count of them. Its like a deep water dive… get inside and look for what you really need.

Ever wondered who is behind all these spam emails ? I know your account will get suspended if you send out spam from your email. But, breaking all the strict measures and spam detecting technologies, they are cracking in to your very inboxes… which we hold close to our hearts ( nice poetry indeed ). Hey all those spammers out there.. will you be interested in taking an interview with me ? I have thousands of questions for you.

Are spammers getting creative ? Lately, I saw a bunch of spams with good work done behind them !! all new ideas… recently they filled your mail boxes with failure notices for emails which you never sent !! its not just good old replica watches ads and those crappy stuff.. they are getting creative… may be “spamming is an art” too :D
