Two Google Wave Plugins for WordPress

Google Wave Plugin WordPress

Google Wave Plugin WordPress

I don’t mind being over excited about Google wave, because I saw the google wave preview video. It’s worth being little over excited about.

Being over excited includes trying to know how it will be useful for me, and my friends, so, for those who love google wave and wordpress, let me introduce you to two wave plugins for WordPress.

update : Wanna try 8 more useful Google Wave Plugins ?

1. wp-wave-shortcodes

The first Google wave plugin for WordPress that I noticed is WordPress Wave ShortCodes.  As far as I could see, it was the only plugin that has active development going  on.

What it Does

Adds a shortcode to WordPress that makes it easy to embed Wave(s) in a post or page. It also adds a media button so one is not required to remember how a shortcode is structured.

That was from the plugin’s page on Google Code. So, it will help you add waves to your wordpress posts, with the use of short codes. To make it more simple, there will be a media button for this.

How to use

You will have a media button just like you have one for adding image or video, on the wordpress dashboard, where you write new posts and pages. When you click on that, you will get a menu where you can enter wave ID for your wave that you want to insert, and then specify font and background color etc.

  • id(Required)
  • width
  • height
  • bgcolor
  • color
  • font
  • fontsize

Is there a Demo ? Can I try it ?

Yes, and No. There is a demo available here. But, you need a Google Wave Sandbox account to access the demo. If you are planning to develop a wave plugin, you can request it here.  Others, wait until the end of this month, if you are lucky, you will get an account

Update : I found another one here

If You Were Given a Chance to Rename This Blog …

If you were given a chance to rename this blog, Blog of Small Things that is, what will  you name it ?

Even though I keep changing the theme of the blog, I do not wish to change the name of the blog, now. But, if you were given a chance, will you rename it ? Is there a better name that can explain this blog better ?

I did not think much when I named this blog. I was reading God Of small Things, the book, and Blog of Small Things came to my mind, and I thought it suits my blog better.

  1. How did you find your blog’s name ?
  2. Did someone help you with this ?
  3. Did you ask for suggestion from your friends or family ?
  4. Did other blogs inspire you ?
  5. What is the most interesting blog name that you have ever seen ?

Okay, answers please !!

Are you addicted to twitter ?

I have no idea why I am spending this much time on twitter. When I have nothing else to do, I keep reloading my twitter page for new tweets ( I haven’t installed any twitter tool yet ..  may be I will, soon .. ). And even when I have something important to do, I keep coming back to twitter, for another reload.

I created twitter account a few months back and left it there and Twitter was not popular like this.  Even when I saw twitter’s popularity growing, I didn’t feel like using it because I had nothing to do with twitter, or I have no idea what the use was, for me.

Initially, like many others I was also thinking this, why should I tell the world “What I am doing” using a website, and 140 characters ? Then twitter changed in to something more … Obama started twittering .. CNN , Facebook, Google … and then Google started worrying about twitter launching search and then ads … people started  dreaming about their tweets being published in newspapers like their blog entries do.

Its been a while since I used wordpress.com for blogging ..   I got so used to self hosted wordpress blogs, that I  think less about wordpress.com bogs  these days ( hence blog less about them )  .. and I even stopped visiting wordpress.com …  ( just wordpress.com .. I still read your wordpress.com hosted blogs … don’t worry !! )

WordPress.com is doing a good job with features that they offer, and they are adding new features every now and then. But, do you miss something ? Do you need something more from them ? …. like … more freedom about looks of your blog … more plugins … etc ? Comments please ……… :)
