Customer Service is what I do for a living, and Web 2.0 is my passion. That should be the reason why the following Tweet caught my attention, and even made me write this blog post !
Anand Mahindra is the Vice Chairman and Manging Director of the Mahindra group, a leading business group here in India. He is an active twitter user and yea, I remember him asking one of the twitter founders if he can buy some stocks in the company
( yea, on show organized by NDTV )
But Sir, I have seen many companies setting up twitter and facebook accounts, but saw only very few doing something in a way twitter users expect them too.
Good One Sir !
February 10th, 2010 — Google Buzz
I will have to keep refreshing my gmail inbox for the whole day, or even longer !
Reason ?
I am waiting for Google Buzz to be added to my account.
My first thought about Buzz was, hey Google is trying to start something similar to twitter. Later, I figured that, this is little different. Google is trying to respond to most of the twitter and twitter like services, along with twitter related services we use regularly use.
1. Twitter : With status updates and @ replies, google will compete with twitter directly here, and this happens inside gmail inbox, so Google has millions of users already with them. Well, if they all start using buzz, of course.
2. URL shortening: Google has its own URL shortening service, which will be integrated to buzz.
3. FriendFeed: Friend Feed collects all our web 2.0 activities on a single page. Buzz is trying to do something similar. It can automatically pull updates from your twiiter, flickr, picasa and youtube etc, and I believe, more services will be added to this via plugins or extensions, later.
4. Twitpic and Others: We will see picasa being an important part of Buzz, for quick photo sharing, directly competing with twitpic and other twitter photo sharing websites.
Many Social networking services may end up being a buzz plugin or extension, in future, if Google Buzz becomes really popular, which only time can reveal to us. So, lets wait for our future to be decided
October 2nd, 2009 — google, Google Wave
Listen, this is a pretty cool thing. Google Wave also has a public timeline, like twitter. It shows all wave created and updated if they are marked “public”, and this happens real-time. You can open these waves and join the conversation. To access it, all you need to do is, type “with:public” without quotes, in to the search bar.

Orkut has always been different. It was about friendship, not about link sharing or the typical social media networking. Now orkut has announced a new feature that lets you promote your content. And yes, its called “Orkut Promote”
You can share links, photos and videos to your friends using this new feature. If your friends like it, they can “spread” it among their friends. Plus, you can track your promotions, how many people shared it with their friends, how many people clicked on your links etc. Simple ?
Is Orkut trying to Imitate twitter ?
If orkut has made it this simple, why should I confuse you explaining things in words ? Here is a video ….
I think it’s really cool ! and I am going to use this to promote my blog on Orkut. I know you guys are also going to do the same
. And yes … not just my blog ok ? I will share your blogs too, whenever I find something interesting from you people !!
Yes. I am still active on orkut. It is ( still ) a good way to stay connected with old school and college friends. However, when you compare it with other social networking sites like friendfeed or twitter, this is not really about sharing links and content online. This is little different, and I like it.
Is Orkut as good as friendfeed or facebook ? I don’t know the answer for that question ( do you ? ) .. but I know that orkut is really simple, and that’s why it is still my favorite. Here is a new feature that helps you promote your content on orkut. Well, this is simple too.

Update: HP recently announced an Android Based TouchScreen Netbook named Compaq Air Life 100. Check it out here. and the $35 Android tablet from India.
We waited for Android to come to Netbooks and Laptops, and then Google said, wait it’s Chrome OS Tips, and we got confused, now, allow me to confuse you more, with Live Android, a project hosted on Google Code website, providing you live iso file for android.
ps: If you want to Chrome OS downloaded for your netbook, click here for instructions.
You can download a normal live iso image file for android to use on your laptop or netbook. Burn it on a cd, ( DvD won’t work ), insert cd to the cd drive, and reboot the computer/laptop, and you will have it ready to test, without making any change to your system.
Creating a Live USB for Live Android
You can contact them on twitter, if you need help. I did get help through twitter, really fast. I was trying to create a Live USB using the iso file, but they said, its not ready for using on USB drives.
So, netbook users ( most of those netbooks come without a cd drive ) you may need to wait until version 3.0. The current version has some problem with usb file creator. When it’s ready, you can use this program to create a Live USB.
Me ?
I have downloaded the file, but I couldn’t burn the cd correctly, so, I need some more time to test this. Will update you all once I get this to work on my laptop … stay tuned .. you know what is RSS feed right ?
Now, Have some fun, watch the video?
